Pros and Cons
It seems like forever since James gave the final rose to Dwayne Wade on the LeBachelor two summers ago, but that one-hour special may have had more impact on his legacy than anything he ever does on the court. Since then there have been numerous debates about how good he is and many of us have criticized him greatly. Well, I can admit when I’m wrong…or at least when I have the wrong motivation for not liking someone.
LeBron is hated because he had a TV special announcing that he was leaving a team that couldn’t win even with the greatest player on the planet. He was called a coward, his competitive spirit was questioned, and we all knew he choked in clutch situations.
But maybe we should look at what he didn’t do.
- get arrested for being in a bar fight
- rape a woman
- leave the game early when his loose lifestyle resulted in HIV
- blasphemously say he was better than Jesus Christ
- give a Hall of Fame induction speech claiming that he didn’t need any of his teammates
- impregnate a 13 year old
No, LeBron hasn’t done those things. That’s what other NBA MVPs in my lifetime have done–the guys I have compared LeBron James to.
It’s no comparison. LeBron is a pro, not a con.
